60 bicyles for Uganda
Since 2008 the Michael Horbach Foundation has endowed over 60 bicycles to Ugandan families. Joanita Tusubira and her husband, the photographer Thomas Karsten selected personally the families in need on the spot and organized the logistical organization as well as the distribution of the bicycles.
There is no public transportation system in most of the rural areas in Uganda. Therefore the possession of a bicycle can open up new vistas to Ugandan families: it can be used to transport goods, produce and water and provide basic transportation and turn families into small enterprises.
With only 75€ you can support one family in the long-term and help them to escape poverty.
Further projects supported by the foundation:
- A school for children with learning difficulties from needy families
- The “Kunstforum” in Cologne and other photo exhibitions
- The global Marshall-Plan initiative that campaigns fair globalization and the elimination of poverty
